Liberia has issued novelty bullion and commemorative coinage under foreign licensing arrangements for decades, rarely producing pieces intended for domestic circulation. A 0.062g platinum coin at .999 fineness contains so little metal it qualifies more as a medallion curiosity than a tradeable bullion instrument — the spot value of the platinum itself barely registers.
