Additional information

Hutt River Province — the micro-nation declared unilaterally by Leonard Casley in Western Australia in 1970 after a dispute with the state government over wheat quotas — issued a prolific run of numismatic pieces throughout the 1980s and 1990s, most aimed squarely at the collector market rather than any pretense of circulation. This AV-8B piece falls squarely in that category. The Province never had legal tender status recognized by Australia, and its coinage holds no monetary validity beyond its own borders — borders that were never internationally acknowledged.

The AV-8B Harrier II entered U.S. Marine Corps service in 1985, a joint development between McDonnell Douglas and British Aerospace.
