Additional information

Hutt River Province was a self-declared micronation in Western Australia, established in 1970 when wheat farmer Leonard Casley seceded from Australia in a dispute over wheat production quotas. By the 1990s, its "government" had developed a substantial commemorative coin program — pieces like this one were sold directly to collectors and had no meaningful circulation. The D-Day hook is purely calendrical: 1994 marked the 50th anniversary, and dozens of issuers worldwide, legitimate and otherwise, attached their names to the occasion.
