| Obverse description | The obverse field features a dynamic central device depicting the legendary Kraken, a giant octopus of maritime mythology, its massive tentacles wrapped menacingly around the hull and rigging of a tall sailing ship amid turbulent waves. The composition fills the inner field entirely, rendered in fine detail with the creature's textured suckers and the ship's masts and sails clearly delineated.
