| Obverse description | The sixth and final crowned effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Jody Clark, faces right wearing the George IV State Diadem and the Victorian Coronation Necklace. This special memorial obverse was issued to commemorate Her Majesty's reign from 1952 to 2022 and bears the regnal dates flanking her name. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II 1952 - 2022 AUSTRALIA 25 DOLLARS, with the engraver's initials JC appearing in the field. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a polished field, consistent with Perth Mint's bullion coin standards. |

| Additional information |
The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, modeled by sculptor Jody Clark, was introduced to Australian coinage in 2019 — making it among the shortest-lived royal effigies in the series. Elizabeth II died in September 2022, meaning this 2023 issue was struck posthumously, produced under a portrait authority that had already been superseded by the transition to Charles III coinage running concurrently.
The Perth Mint's one-quarter ounce gold bullion program has run continuously since 1987, making it one of the longest uninterrupted sovereign bullion series in the world.
