Additional information

Yellowstone's 125th anniversary in 1997 prompted a wave of commemorative issues from peripheral minting programs, and Cook Islands was among the first to market. This piece was struck by the Pobjoy Mint under license — Cook Islands held no independent minting facility — a commercial arrangement that produced dozens of wildlife and landmark themes throughout the 1990s for collector rather than circulation use.
