Additional information

The Platinum Jubilee commemoratives issued under the Solomon Islands' authority were a common vehicle for the Perth Mint and similar producers to market bullion-weight gold pieces to collectors, using Pacific island issuing agreements to circumvent the stricter design controls of the Royal Mint. Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee — marking 70 years on the throne in 2022 — was anticipated well before the actual anniversary, and coins dated 2021 were released into the pre-jubilee market a full year ahead.
