Operation Husky, launched on 10 July 1943, was the largest amphibious assault in history at the time of its execution — a distinction it held until Normandy the following year. Planning was plagued by inter-Allied friction, with Patton and Montgomery competing for primacy in ways that directly shaped the final invasion route and arguably allowed German and Italian forces more time to evacuate across the Messina Strait than Allied commanders later cared to admit.
Niue's bullion and commemorative gold program is administered through external licensing arrangements, making KM#3075 a New Zealand Mint product in all but issuing authority.
