| Reverse description | A highly detailed, three-quarter perspective depiction of the Coronation Chair — also known as King Edward's Chair — occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief. The ancient Gothic throne, housed in Westminster Abbey, is shown with its characteristic pinnacled canopy, carved back, and stepped base supported by four gilded lions. The inscription THE CHAIR appears to the left of the throne in the field. The legend 25th ANNIVERSARY OF CORONATION · 1953 · 1978 arcs around the upper periphery, while TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border, all separated by raised dot stops. |
