Additional information

The "Kangaroo Dreaming" series was part of Perth Mint's broader push in the late 2000s to differentiate its bullion-adjacent collector issues from the standard Australian Kangaroo bullion program, which had run since 1986. These fractional gold pieces targeted the emerging Asian collector market, particularly in China and Singapore, where Perth Mint had been aggressively expanding its retail network.

Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, introduced in 1998, appears here — the same effigy used across Australian coinage until Jody Clark's version displaced it from 2019.
