| Obverse description | Second effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin, depicting a right-facing draped bust of the Queen wearing a tiara and pearl earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left rim and D•G•REGINA along the right rim, both in raised Latin characters. The date 1976 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The finely modelled bust is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, characteristic of Royal Mint production of this period. |
