| Obverse description | Central medallion featuring the diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, with the engraver's initials IRB beneath the truncation. The Samoan coat of arms appears below the portrait, and the denomination 25 CENTS is inscribed in the lower field. Surrounding the central medallion in the outer ring, twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac are depicted in high relief, including the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. The figure wears elaborate robes and jewelry, with a nimbus behind the head, and flowing ribbons extend dynamically to both sides of the composition. The Chinese characters 普贤菩萨 are inscribed vertically along the left field, and the Latin legend SAMANTABHADRA appears along the upper right. The date 2022 is inscribed in the lower exergue. |
