| Additional information |
The Seychelles Monetary Authority issued this coin in 1976, the year the islands gained independence from Britain after over 160 years of colonial rule. The Authority itself was a transitional institution, replaced by the Central Bank of Seychelles in 1978 — giving coins bearing its name a lifespan of just two years before the issuer ceased to exist.
