Part of the 1992 twelve-coin provincial and territorial series issued to mark the 125th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, this Yukon quarter was struck during a year when the RCM produced commemorative coins at a pace that tested distribution infrastructure. The Yukon Territory, having joined Confederation only in 1898 — over three decades after the anniversary ostensibly being celebrated — occupies an awkward position in the set's historical framing.
