Issued to mark the 60th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, this coin was part of the RCM's broader push into themed collector circulation issues during the mid-2000s — a period when the mint was aggressively expanding its commemorative program to compete with revenue-generating special issues from the Perth and Royal mints.
