Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, depicting a mature right-facing bust of the Queen adorned with a pearl necklace and drop earrings, her hair styled in a formal upswept arrangement. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a flat field and is framed by a continuous inner border of raised beads running along the coin's periphery. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II to the upper left and D·G·REGINA to the upper right, in incuse Latin lettering. The overall design conveys a dignified and restrained regal character consistent with standard Canadian coinage of the period.
