Additional information

One of fourteen different reverse designs issued by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of the Millennium Series, this piece was released throughout 2000 with each month bringing a new reverse. The series was an explicit exercise in national identity, commissioned to mark the turn of the millennium, and "Pride" was among the quarters intended to circulate freely rather than be sold as collectibles — which most Canadians promptly ignored by pulling them from change anyway.

KM#384.2 distinguishes the non-proof circulation strike from the specimen finish version, both struck at Ottawa.
