| Reverse description | The reverse depicts two overlapping symbolic devices occupying the central field: a large awareness ribbon in the left portion, representing health advocacy, and a Rod of Asclepius — a serpent entwined around a staff — to the right, evoking the classical emblem of medicine. The bilingual legend HEALTH 2000 SANTÉ arcs along the upper rim within a beaded border, while CANADA is inscribed along the lower rim. The designer's initials AW appear in the lower right field. |

| Additional information |
Issued as part of Canada's Millennium Series, this quarter was one of twelve designs released throughout 2000, each assigned to a different value or theme voted on by Canadians. "Health" was among the twelve themes selected through a national public consultation process — an unusual step that handed design direction to popular opinion rather than the mint or government.
The nickel-plated steel composition had been adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1999, replacing the pure nickel blanks used since 1982.
