Part of Cook Islands' long-running series of novelty issues produced almost entirely for the collector market, this piece has no meaningful circulation history — Cook Islands has used the New Zealand dollar in daily commerce for decades, and its own coinage exists largely as a licensing vehicle. The "Everyone's Mad Here" title references Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, published 1865, whose characters have been mined relentlessly by mints worldwide for themed collector sets since at least the 1990s.
