Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the Queen in right-facing profile as a mature sovereign at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded and adorned with a necklace and earrings. The legend 'ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, identifying her as Queen by the Grace of God. The portrait is rendered in a refined, unadorned style characteristic of Blunt's 2003 design, which was adopted as the standard Canadian obverse effigy. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the composition.
