Part of a licensed Star Wars series issued through the New Zealand Mint on behalf of Cook Islands, a prolific source of themed numismatic issues that have flooded the collector market since the 2000s. The "Duel on Cloud City" refers to the climactic confrontation in The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Cook Islands has no meaningful connection to the subject matter — the denomination is nominal, the coins are legal tender in name only, and none circulate.
