| Reverse description | Right-facing bust portrait of Lieutenant Colonel Charles de Salaberry, hero of the Battle of Châteauguay during the War of 1812, depicted in military uniform with a cravat. The background features a stylized repeating text pattern incorporating the phrases 'The War of 1812' and 'La guerre de 1812' in both English and French, evoking a historical document effect. A maple leaf motif appears in the lower left field. The denomination '25 cents' is inscribed in the upper portion of the field, with the name 'de Salaberry' rendered in a cursive script across the centre, and the date '1812' and the engraver's initials 'BR' appear near the right rim. |

De Salaberry entered the quarter series as part of the RCM's ongoing program honoring Canadian military figures, timed loosely to the bicentennial commemorations of the War of 1812. Charles de Salaberry commanded the Voltigeurs canadiens at the Battle of Châteauguay in October 1813, where a force estimated at under 500 men turned back an American column of several thousand advancing on Montreal — one of the more lopsided defensive actions in the war's northern theater.
The multiple RCM reference numbers reflect separate product configurations: collector sets, rolls, and single-coin issues packaged differently but struck from the same dies.
