The 2000 "Community" quarter was part of Canada's millennium series — twelve distinct designs issued across 1999 and 2000, each assigned to a specific month and theme, an unusually ambitious program for a circulating denomination. Most pieces entered general circulation in base nickel; the .925 silver strikes were produced for collector sets and saw no till time whatsoever.
