Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, facing right in a mature draped bust portrait, wearing a pearl necklace and pearl drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim, while D • G • REGINA arcs along the upper right rim, all in raised Latin lettering. A fine inner beaded border encircles the entire obverse field. The mint mark P appears at the lower rim below the truncation of the bust. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic, refined style characteristic of Canadian coinage from this period.

Reverse description The reverse features a colorized depiction of Bonhomme Carnaval, the iconic snowman mascot of the Quebec Winter Carnival, rendered in high relief at the centre of the field with his arms raised in a welcoming gesture. Bonhomme wears his signature red tuque and red ceinture fléchée (sash), applied in vivid red coloring, contrasting with his white snow-textured body. Two engraved snowflakes appear to the upper right of the figure. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim, flanked by the date 2006, with the denomination 25 CENTS inscribed to the upper left of the central device. The bilingual legend CARNAVAL • CARNIVAL curves along the lower rim.
