Obverse description The national coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago is displayed centrally in the field. The shield, bearing a ship and other national symbols, is supported on the dexter side by a scarlet ibis and on the sinister side by a cocrico bird, both standing on a grassy mound above stylized waves. A crest of a ship's wheel surmounted by a palm tree and flanked by two hummingbirds appears above the shield. A scroll at the base bears the national motto in raised Latin lettering, with a mint mark appearing below.
