Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize is centrally depicted, supported by two figures of mestizo woodcutters standing at either side of the quartered shield, which bears tools and a sailing vessel in its quarters beneath a mahogany tree above. The motto ribbon inscribed SUB UMBRA FLOREO appears at the base of the arms. The entire device is encircled by a wreath of laurel branches, with the legend BELIZE arching across the upper field and the date 1985 positioned in the lower field. A beaded border runs continuously around the rim.
