| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, featuring two woodcutters flanking a shield charged with a sailing ship and crossed axes, surmounted by a mahogany tree, and enclosed within an ornamental wreath of local foliage. The motto legend SUB UMBRA FLOREO, meaning 'I flourish in the shade,' appears on a scroll at the base of the arms. The country name BELIZE is inscribed in a bold arc along the upper periphery, while the date 1983 appears in the lower field.
