Obverse description The crowned coat of arms of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas occupies the central field, depicting a shield supported by a marlin and a flamingo, surmounted by a conch shell crest, with a native sloop below and the national motto on a ribbon. The circular legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs above the arms along the upper rim, while the motto FORWARD, UPWARD, ONWARD TOGETHER appears on a scroll beneath the shield. The date is positioned in the lower exergue.
