Yegen is a small Alpujarras village in the Granada highlands, better known internationally as the home of Gerald Brenan than as a monetary authority. Like hundreds of other Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, the Consejo Municipal issued emergency fractional paper when small coin effectively vanished from circulation in 1936–37 — hoarded, melted, or simply stopped moving as the Republican zone's economy fragmented under wartime pressure.
Gari Mon#1648 is among the more obscure entries in the Spanish local emergency series. Documentation on surviving quantities is thin.
