Villanueva la Roja is a small municipality in the province of Teruel, Aragón. Like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional emergency currency — paper céntimos to substitute for the small coins that had been hoarded or simply ceased to circulate after July 1936. These local emisiones de guerra were produced under extremely modest conditions, often by local print shops, and their survival is largely accidental.

The incomplete Gari catalogue reference indicates this piece either lacks a formal assigned number or remains insufficiently documented in the standard reference.
