Vallmoll is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona, and like hundreds of similarly sized Catalan and Spanish towns, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after metallic coinage effectively vanished from circulation in 1936. The Consell Municipal — the locally controlled republican council — had the authority to authorize these emissions under the chaotic monetary arrangements of the period, which produced thousands of distinct local issues across the Republican zone.
Turró 2680 is among the scarcer Tarragona provincial entries precisely because small-run municipal issues from villages of this size were produced in limited quantities and rarely survived outside the immediate locality.
