| Additional information |
Torre Libre was a small anarchist collective in Aragón operating under the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo during the Spanish Civil War. Like dozens of similar villages in the region, it issued its own emergency scrip when the Republican monetary system broke down and metal coinage disappeared from circulation entirely — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. Cardboard tokens at this diameter were punched or cut locally, often by hand, with production quality varying dramatically between pieces.
The Gari catalog distinguishes two sub-varieties under 1446A-B, likely reflecting different print runs or cardstock.
