Serós is a small municipality in the Lleida province of Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly sized towns across Republican Spain, its local council issued emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after metallic coinage effectively vanished from circulation. The Consejo Municipal notes were typically produced locally — often hand-stamped rather than engraved — with quality varying enormously from town to town. Turró's catalogue documents over two thousand such emissions, and Serós sits at the less-documented end of that spectrum.
The stamp security feature here is the authentication mark, likely an official municipal seal applied by hand. On many small-town Catalan emisiones, forged or irregular examples exist alongside legitimate issues, and the stamp impression itself becomes the primary tool for authentication.
