Serón is a small municipality in Almería province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its municipal council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage effectively disappeared from circulation. The Nationalist blockade and wartime hoarding had stripped out small change almost entirely by mid-1937, forcing local authorities to fill the gap with whatever paper they could print or stamp locally.
The Gari Mon reference is unassigned, which typically indicates an unconfirmed or recently documented example — these hyper-local Almería emissions remain among the least catalogued of the Spanish Civil War series.
