Puig-alt de Ter is a small municipality in the comarca of Osona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional currency when the Republican government's small-change supply collapsed in 1936–37. These local emissions — collectively known as paper moneda local — were authorized under a decree allowing municipalities and collectives to fill the void left by hoarded and melted coinage.

The printer, Cooperativa d'Arts Gràfiques of Ripoll, produced a significant number of these municipal issues for towns across the Ripollès and surrounding comarques. Finding two notes from different issuing bodies that share typefaces or border stock is not unusual given the shared press origin.

Turró catalogues this emission at #2027.
