Preixens is a hamlet in the Segarra district of Lleida with a population that has historically hovered under a few hundred — an almost implausibly small community to have issued its own emergency paper money. This note is a product of the Spanish Civil War's moneda local phenomenon, when the Republican zone's acute shortage of small coinage forced municipalities of every conceivable size to print their own fractional currency. Imprenta Miquel Pera in nearby Agramunt handled production for several of these tiny Lleida-area issues.
