Pedroche is a village in northern Córdoba province, and like hundreds of other Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency small change when coins vanished from circulation almost overnight in the summer of 1936. These local municipal issues — collectively called "billetes de necesidad" — were produced under wildly varying conditions, often by local printers or even hand-stamped on card stock, with no central oversight and no standard format.
The Gari Mon catalogue remains the primary reference for these issues, and the relatively high catalogue number suggests this is among the less frequently encountered provincial emissions.
