Nonaspe is a village in Zaragoza province that found itself on the Aragonese front during the Civil War, cut off from the normal currency supply that the Republic was struggling to maintain even in major cities. Like dozens of similarly isolated municipalities in 1937, it authorized its own emergency fractional paper — the kind of hyperlocal scrip that proliferated precisely because peseta coinage had been hoarded out of circulation almost entirely.
Gràfiques Launes in Mora d'Ebre printed for multiple Aragonese and Catalan municipalities during this period, which accounts for the family resemblance collectors sometimes notice across different issuers in the region.
