One of hundreds of municipal emergency notes issued across Catalonia during the Civil War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage left local governments improvising their own scrip. The Ajuntament de Montmany-Figaró was a tiny municipality — the hyphenated name reflects a loose administrative pairing of two small settlements in the Vallès Oriental comarca — which makes this emission unusually minor even by the standards of wartime local currency.
Gràfiques Unificades in Granollers handled printing for numerous Catalan municipalities during this period, operating under collectivized management after the anarchist and socialist union takeovers of July 1936.
