Mecina Bombarón is a small village in the Alpujarra region of Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation after 1936. The 25 céntimos denomination was among the most common targets for these local emissions — small enough to cover everyday transactions that metal coin had previously handled.

The Gari catalogue reference is incomplete, which is unsurprising. Many Alpujarran municipal issues remain poorly documented; survival rates were low, and scholarly attention to this corner of Granada has lagged behind the more extensively catalogued emissions from larger towns.
