Masdenverge is a small municipality in the Montsià comarca of Tarragona, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during the Civil War, its municipal council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage effectively disappeared from circulation after 1936. These local issues — collectively documented under the broad *billetes locales* category — were often printed on whatever card stock or heavy paper was available, with quantities typically small enough that survival rates are low even for uncirculated examples.

Turró's catalog remains the primary reference for this series, and the Masdenverge issues are among the more obscure entries in that corpus.
