Los Navalmorales is a small municipality in Toledo province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it issued its own emergency fractional scrip during the Civil War period when Republican-zone coinage effectively disappeared from circulation. These local emissions were produced under desperate improvised conditions — often typed, rubber-stamped, or hand-signed by municipal officials rather than professionally printed — and the Gari Montané catalogue documents them precisely because institutional records are so fragmentary.
Survival rates for this type of hyper-local scrip are erratic. Many were redeemed and pulped; others simply disintegrated. The Gari Mon#994-A designation places this within a documented emission, which is more than can be said for some neighboring municipalities whose issues remain unattributed.
