Llombay is a small municipality in Valencia province, and this 25 céntimos piece is one of dozens of hyper-local emergency issues that appeared across Republican-held Spain after the July 1936 military uprising collapsed normal banking and drained metallic coin from circulation almost overnight. The issuing body — the CNT-affiliated Comunidad Obrera — effectively administered the local economy under anarcho-syndicalist collectivization, meaning this note functioned within a parallel structure that rejected both the Republican central government's authority and conventional monetary hierarchy.

At this format, these were produced under improvised conditions and survive poorly. The Garicoin/Gari Monumenta reference corpus documents hundreds of such Valencian local issues, most in tiny print runs.
