El Peral is a small municipality in Cuenca province, Castilla-La Mancha. Like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional paper to replace coinage that had entirely disappeared from circulation by mid-1937 — hoarded, melted, or simply gone. These consejo municipal notes were purely local instruments, valid only within the issuing community and often printed on whatever stock was available.

The Gari Monovar reference is incomplete, which is unsurprising — many of these rural Castilian issues were documented decades after the fact, and some remain effectively uncatalogued. Surviving examples from villages this small are genuinely uncommon.
