Reverse description The legendary 'Drummer of El Bruc' — a young Catalan drummer boy — rendered in a historical vignette commemorating the guerrilla engagement against Napoleonic French forces on 6 June 1808, with the massif of Montserrat rising dramatically in the background. The composition conveys a patriotic and regional character consistent with the Civil War-era Catalan emergency issues.

El Bruc is a small municipality in the Anoia comarca, best known for its association with the guerrilla resistance against Napoleon's forces in 1808. By 1937, the town was issuing its own emergency paper currency — one of thousands of local vals and moneda municipal notes that flooded Catalonia after the July 1936 uprising effectively collapsed the normal coin supply. Small-denomination bronze and copper coins vanished from circulation almost immediately, hoarded or melted, forcing municipalities of every size to print their own fractional substitutes.

Tipografia El Secretariat Català in Barcelona handled production for numerous small Catalan issuers during this period, which kept costs low but means the printing itself offers little to distinguish one issuer's notes from another's.
