Corral-Rubio is a small municipality in the province of Albacete, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it issued its own fractional emergency paper during the Civil War years when Republican-zone coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely. These local municipally-issued notes — sometimes called "billetes de necesidad" — were produced to fill the gap left by hoarded and melted metal, and most were authorized under decrees that gave municipal councils broad latitude to print whatever denominations local commerce actually needed.
Imprenta y Litografía Collado was a provincial Albacete printer responsible for several of these small-town issues, which accounts for the family resemblance sometimes seen across different municipal notes from the region.
