Canena is a small municipality in Jaén province, Andalusia — during the Spanish Civil War, hundreds of such councils issued their own emergency fractional currency when coins disappeared from circulation almost entirely after July 1936. The Consejo Municipal filled the vacuum with locally authorized paper, typically in tiny denominations that copper and brass coinage had previously covered.
Gari Mon#433-B suggests a second type within the Canena issues, implying at least minor variation between emissions — possibly a reprint, a new authorization signature, or a date change. Documentation for notes from villages this small is fragmentary at best.
