Issued by a workers' consumer cooperative in a small Valencian municipality during the Spanish Civil War, this note belongs to the vast ecosystem of locally-issued emergency fractional currency — "moneda de necesidad" — that proliferated after July 1936, when the banking system fragmented and coin hoarding stripped communities of small change almost overnight. The cooperative's namesake, Pablo Iglesias Posse, was the founder of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party and the UGT, which makes the dedication pointed rather than incidental for a workers' collective.
Gari Mon #300-A is among the more obscure Valencian provincial emissions, and surviving examples are rarely encountered in trade.
