Benalúa de Guadix is a small municipality in the Guadix depression of Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally issued emergency fractional notes during the Civil War when Republican-zone coinage evaporated almost entirely after 1936. The Consejo Municipal issues from this area are among the more obscure entries in the Gari catalog — Gari Mon#276-A is not a note that surfaces with any regularity, and attribution can be complicated by the informal production methods typical of rural Andalusian municipalities of the period.
