Beas de Segura is a small municipality in Jaén province, Andalusia, and this 25 céntimos note is a product of the fractional currency crisis that paralyzed Republican-held Spain from 1936 onward. The flight of coinage — hoarded, melted, or simply absent from circulation — forced hundreds of municipalities, cooperatives, and local committees to print their own emergency chits. Beas de Segura was one of them.

The Gari Montserrat reference confirms provincial documentation, but surviving examples from small Jaén municipalities are genuinely scarce — local print runs were modest and redemption after the war irregular at best.
